Frank Murphy of Crestwood, NY, passed peacefully on Sunday, December 3rd at the age of 96 after a brief illness.   Frank was born in the Bronx on September 25th, 1921 to Mary and Jeremiah Murphy and was one of seven brothers.  Frank proudly served his country as a Corporal in the US Army in WWII as part of the 263rd Combat Engineers. Five of his brothers served in WW11 simultaneously.  He was married for 52 years to Sheila O’Shea who predeceased him in 2007 and is survived by his five loving children and their spouses, Peter, Michael (Paola), Eileen (Mike), Maureen (Tom) and Anne-Marie, twelve grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.  Frank worked tirelessly until his retirement at age 80 and could captivate an audience with detailed stories from the war and growing up in the Depression. He was a writer of poetry and short stories and loved to golf.  He took great pride in every success of his extended family and had an insatiable passion for sports especially his favorite teams, the Yankees and Notre Dame.  “Pop”, you’ll be missed every minute of each day.
The family will receive friends at The Fred H. McGrath & Sons Funeral Home, 20 Cedar St, Bronxville, NY on Friday December 8 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday December 9, 10am at the Church of Annunciation, Westchester Ave, Crestwood NY. Burial at Gate of Heaven.
