Marrinan, Joan M. June 25, 1933 - December 24, 2019

Bronxville – Joan M. Marrinan, 86, of Crestwood New York passed away December 24, 2019 at Lawrence Hospital after suffering from cancer. She was born June 25, 1933 to Patrick and Ann Cronin in the Bronx. She graduated from Ste. Jean Baptiste High School in Manhattan, and St. John’s University. She was married to Patrick J. Marrinan, also from the Bronx, in 1955. Joan and Patrick had four sons, and relocated to the Crestwood section of Yonkers in 1962, where they raised their children, enjoyed the pleasure of many friends and neighbors, and were parishioners of the Annunciation Church. They resided there continuously until Patrick predeceased her in 2015. She is survived and mourned by her children Patrick (Joan) of Scarsdale, Kevin (Susan) of Poughkeepsie, Edward (Holly) of Bronxville and Peter (Mary Ellen) of Crestwood), as well as by her grandchildren Brian, Morgan (Brian Fahy), Ted, Jane, Kristen, Katherine and Charlotte. She also cherished the love of her nieces and nephews Patricia, Loretta, William, Ann and Kevin Langan, children of her late sister Ann and her husband William Langan, and Anne Rebecca and Jane Marrinan, children of Pat’s brother James Marrinan and his wife Cynthia, of Rockville, Maryland. She was an avid follower of sports, an excellent bridge player, a seamstress and a dedicated member of her church. The family wishes to extend special thanks to neighbors, friends and companions who performed acts of caring and kindness for Joan over the years. Visiting hours are Sunday, December 29 from 2 through 5 PM at The Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home in Bronxville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 30 at 10 AM at the Annunciation Church in Crestwood, followed by internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that friends offer contributions to the Annunciation School Foundation.
