Robert C. Mahony, age 92, of Bronxville, NY, formerly of Riverdale, NY, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 in his home.
Husband to Doris Sullivan and father to Barbara Weaver, Robert J. Mahony, Michael P. Mahony, Maureen Casper, and Mary Jo Flynn, he was most proud of the 42 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that he took direct responsibility for producing. An active parishioner of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bronxville for over 30 years (formerly of St. Margaret’s in Riverdale for some 60 years), he taught CCD and was a lector and daily communicant. He was a Eucharistic Minister for his parish, visiting the sick at their homes and at Lawrence Hospital where he volunteered for many years. He took great joy in volunteering at the Pregnancy Care Center in New Rochelle where he walked and played with the children under their care. Robert ran the J.G. Mahony Company, Inc., insurance brokerage firm up until 2010, a firm his father established, and was on the Board of Directors of Anchor Savings Bank, Dime Savings Bank, and The Schervier Nursing Care Center in the Bronx, NY. He is survived by his brother, Richard Mahony, and sister, Catherine Howett. Calling Hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 4 to 7PM Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Monday. Mass of Christian Burial St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville on Tuesday November 15 at 10AM.
