JoAnne Magro, beloved sister, sister-in-law, niece, aunt, cousin and friend to many, passed from cardiac arrest on July 16, 2022, while surrounded by her family. Raised in Yonkers, NY, and 35-year resident of Bronxville, she was a devout Catholic who loved to travel to islands with turquoise beaches, eat filet mignon & lobster, do 1000-word puzzles and needlepoint, cook for family and friends and the color purple! Good times and tan lines were her motto!
She pursued and achieved her dream of working as a pediatric nurse, spent 20 years at Blythedale Children’s Hospital and loved caring for the little ones. She was involved in multiple fund-raising events for them over the years. She transitioned into hospital administration and spent the last portion of her career at Calvary Hospital devoted to end-of-life cancer and other diseases. A cancer survivor herself, she was strong, stoic and courageous and never let it interfere with living life fully!
Her generous heart was evident as she was always ready to help those in need. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. She is survived by her sister Barbara Magro-Berg, brother-in-law Dr. Kevin Berg, and best friend Ginny Hayworth. She joins in heaven her predeceased mother and father, Carolyn and Richard Magro, beloved brother, Richard Jr. and her favorite 4-legged niece and nephew, Freddie and Holly.
