Arthur J. Lennon, Jr., MD, aged 78, of Bronxville, NY, died peacefully on Jan. 19 surrounded by family and friends.  Born in Manhattan, he received his BA at Fordham University, his MD at the College of Physicians and Surgeons and his MPH at the School of Public Health, both at Columbia University.  He received his postgraduate education at St Luke’s Hospital and was board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Geriatrics. For over 40 years he was on the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital where he was President of the Medical Board and the first to be asked to stay on in this position for two years. He retired as a Senior Emeritus Attending Physician. He was on the staff of the Isabella Geriatric Center for 42 years including 33 years as Director of Medical Services and 23 years as Vice Chairman of the Board. He made great contributions to each through his contemplative leadership and remarkable compassion.  He was also Assoc. Clinical Professor of Medicine at Columbia University, taking special pleasure in passing on his caring bedside manner and his wisdom in the art of physical diagnosis. He was a Captain in the US Army 1962-64 and served in Vietnam. He was known for having a well-timed remark, and had passions for history, sailing, music and the Adirondacks. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Airlie, his daughter Jean of Durham, NC, his son James (Tori) of Nashville, TN, and three grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Bronxville on Wed. Jan 22 at 11 AM. The family will receive friends at the Fred H. McGrath & Son,  Funeral Home, 20 Cedar St., Bronxville, on Jan. 21 between 7 and 9 PM.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name to the Isabella Foundation, 515 Audubon Ave., NY, NY 10040.
