Keneally, Vincent T. “Vince” December 30, 1935 - September 17, 2022

Vincent T. “Vince” Keneally

Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the age of 86. Predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth (O’Callaghan) Keneally, his 11 siblings (John, Jerome, William, Catherine, James, Joseph, Elizabeth, John (“Neil”), Francis, Cornelius (“Paul”) and Anne Marie), his wife of 57 years Joan Mooney Keneally and his son James Vincent (Liz) Keneally. Survived by sister in-law Alma Mooney, sons William J. (Mary Karen) Keneally, Paul F. (Paula) Keneally and Kevin T. (Judith) Keneally, grandchildren Vincent W. Keneally, Mary Ellen Keneally (William Gunn), Christine Alma Keneally, John Paul “Jack” (Gabrielle) Keneally, Patrick Wayne Keneally, Nicholas Charles Keneally, Kathleen Marie Keneally, James Francis (Valerie) Keneally, James William Keneally, Kevin Joseph Keneally, Clare Therese Keneally, Anne Therese Keneally, great grandson William John Gunn and Richard, Elizabeth, Jessica and R.J. Joline and many beloved cousins and friends in the Bronxville/Yonkers, NY and Spring Lake, NJ communities. Vince lost his mother at a young age and his father was ill, so he spent a short time in an orphanage before his half-brother William and his wife Marguerite were able to take him in and raise him. After graduating Bayside High in Queens, Vince worked his way through Fordham University. He then joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company staying on as an Executive for 40 years, earned an M.B.A. at New York University at night, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves on weekends. His colleagues at MetLife noted that he might have rose even higher at the Company if he could have limited his brutal honesty at times. Vince was a great sports Dad, coaching basketball and baseball and he almost never missed his 4 sons’ games despite working in Manhattan. His brutal honesty showed up in car rides home, but the comments were never mean-spirited and almost always right. Vince was also an active volunteer, serving on youth sports Boards and as President of the St. Joseph’s Mens’ Club. Vince picked up tennis as an adult and had many laughs during and after playing with friends at Orienta Beach Club and the Bronxville Field Club and re-picked up golf in retirement at Fairway Mews in Spring Lake, NJ. Calling hours will be at the Fred H. McGrath and Son Funeral Home in Bronxville, NY on Thursday September 22 from 5pm-7pm and the funeral will be at St. Joseph’s Church in Bronxville on Friday September 23 at 9:45a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Osborn Foundation at 101 Theall Road, Rye, New York 10580.

“Uncle Vinnie” as I knew him was steadfast and consistent in checking in on me and my family over the last five years or so. Vince was caring and cheerful despite all the challenges of advancing age and covid lock downs. I did and will always cherish his energy, honesty and a voice that resembled my Dad’s. Sending love to all those who will miss him.

To My cousins Bill, Paul and Kevin and their families, I send condolences and hope that we stay in touch at the next generational level.

“May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, May the rains fall soft upon your fields, and, until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”

I am sorry that your father past. He was a very devoted father and husband. He also could not have been a better role model for his sons.

Vinny and Joan were good neighbors across the street in Bronxville for years and we became good friends enjoying tennis and many laughs together. My most sincere condolences to the family, My main regret is not being able to say goodbye in person.
