Kathleen T. Gagan, a longtime resident of Bronxville, died on May 20, 2012 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx.
Kathleen, known as Kay, was born in Clifton, NJ on October 15, 1919 and was raised in Brooklyn by her parents, Patrick and Katherine Ring, who were born in Ireland. She married Frederick J. Schramm in 1944 and they lived in Bronxville and raised four children. Her husband predeceased her in 1961, as did Thomas A. Gagan, in 1980, whom she married in 1971. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church and active in the St. Joseph’s Mothers’ Club and served as a volunteer at Lawrence Hospital for over 40 years. She owned Flair For Fashion in the 1960’s and was active in the Bronxville Senior Citizens and the Senior Citizens Council. She was an avid bridge player and will be missed by her many friends. She is survived by her loving children, Patricia A. Grant (the late Hugh Andrew Grant, Jr.), New York City, Frederick J., Jr., (Lise) and Mary Liz, (William H. Jr.) Bronxville, and Raymond E. Schramm, Pelham. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Leslie Ritten (James), Caroline Porter (Josh), and Andrew Grant, Ricky, Patrick and Ellis Schramm (Dawn), Jenny, Billy, Kate and Rory Mulligan, and Kelly Schramm, as well as three great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville, NY on Monday, May 21st from 5-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, on Tuesday, May 22nd, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
