Joseph A. Spillane, Retired NYPD Sergeant, of Bronxville on June 24, 2012. Husband of Marion (nee Dowling), Father of Susan (Dennis) O’Hanlon, Joseph (Patricia), Robert (Carol), Kevin (Mary Jane), Marianne (Peter)
Stuebe and Michael (Joan). Grandfather of 25 and great grandfather of 20, Brother of Charles and the late Thomas, Francis, Elizabeth Gerson, Margaret Swanberg and Michael, he was also predeceased by his parents Michael and Margaret Spillane. He served in the US Navy during WWII, seeing action in both the Battle of Normandy and Iwo Jima. Mr. Spillane then served for 23 years with the NYPD, 20 years with the Celanese Corporation and 15 years with the Inwood Lounge. He also was the owner of Estates in Rockaway Beach, Queens. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York Chapter of American Society Industrial Security (ASIS) which has since renamed the honor in his name. Calling Hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 6 to 9PM Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville on Friday June 29 at 10AM.
