Helen Aspden McGuirk, of Bronxville, beloved daughter of Reverend Donald Minto Aspden and Helen Knight Aspden,
and the cherished wife of the late LTJG George Joseph McGuirk, passed away on February 12, 2012. She was born on December 26, 1921 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey and died at her family home in Chester, Vermont. She is survived by her seven loving children, Scott, Cheryl, Bruce, Dwight, Rosemary, Melanie and Amy, and fifteen grandchildren. She was a graduate of Montclair High School and Stoneleigh Junior College. She was a WW II Navy Veteran, serving as a WAVE, Petty Officer 2nd Class, and was stationed at NAS Lakehurst as an air traffic controller. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the New England Society. Visitation will be at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 PM on Wednesday. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at St Joseph’s Church on Thursday February 16 at 11 AM. The burial will be in Chester, Vermont on a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Springfield Hospital Foundation, PO Box 2003, Springfield, VT 05156.
