Gorup, Kathleen S. July 22, 1951 - October 25, 2019

Kathleen Susan Gorup (née Grogan), beloved mother, sister, aunt, friend, and colleague passed away on October 25, 2019. A life-long New Yorker, Kathleen was born July 22, 1951 and raised in Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, and Bronxville. Her parents, Odette Ferguson Dougherty and Thomas Grogan, were members of the Davenport Club and Orienta Beach Club, where Kathleen was on the swim team. She graduated from Bronxville High School in 1970 and attended Salve Regina College in Newport, RI, before returning to the New York area, where she led a successful career in magazine publication. For many years, Kathleen sold advertising space for publications including Brides Magazine, Newsweek, People, Fortune, and Sunset Magazine. During this time, she lived in New Rochelle and became the first female member of Wykagyl Country Club. She then switched careers to the senior care field, where she worked for over a decade. She most recently served as Director of Community Relations for the Kensington in White Plains, NY. Kathleen is preceded in death by her former husband, Gregory Gorup, and her youngest brother, John Grogan. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Gorup of Sarasota, FL and Ryan Gorup of Harrison, NY, and two siblings, Jean Grogan-Tannebaum (Ira) of Potomac, MD and Thomas Grogan, Jr. of Destin, FL. A funeral mass will be held in honor of Kathleen at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 2, at Saints John and Paul Church, 280 Weaver Street in Larchmont, NY. A memorial gathering to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, November 3, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Kensington, 100 Maple Ave in White Plains, NY.
