Gallo, Henry August 24, 2018

The nicest man many of us have ever had the honor of knowing passed away on Friday morning. He was absolutely charming, kind beyond reason, generous to a fault and never forgot his humble roots or the responsibility his successes afforded him. What’s more, he possessed the most delightfully wicked sense of humor in any given room he graced.

In short, Henry Gallo of Bronxville, was really something else. By and large he thrived through 91 years, 69 of those with his beloved Florence at his side. He met her when he was only 19, fresh out of the navy after World War II, and held tight until her death three years ago. He would tell anyone who would listen his times with that petite, feisty blonde were the best years of his life.

The last three years weren’t easy for him alone but he was thrilled to see his oldest granddaughter, Meredith, walk down the aisle and his middle grandchild, Courtney, give birth to Alexandra Marie and then William Henry (“I may be getting old,” he said, “but I look at those babies and I just feel better”). Finally, he cherished the attention his grandson, Frankie, would lavish on him when he was home from school.

Though an extremely modest man, he would be the first to tell you he led a truly enviable life filled with adventure, travel and a slew of people who adored him. And he would be right.

In addition to his three grandchildren, Mr. Gallo is survived by son Frank, daughter-in-law Lois and his younger, better-looking, favorite son, Henry.
