Vilmo Fonte, a true pioneer, was born on December 5, 1931 in a small village called Raiano, in the Abruzzo region of Italy. After growing up in Italy, he migrated as a young fifteen year old boy to Yonkers, New York to find a better life. He began working at a local textile mill but a few years later he returned to Italy and married the love of his life Enina. This union began a sixty-one year journey that included living in Puerto Rico and then returning to New York. In Puerto Rico, he rose to President of the company while beginning to raise a family. His children Robert, William and Mark were born on the Island. In 1970, he came back to Yonkers to begin a long prosperous career as a restaurateur, owning several restaurants including Ricky’s Clam House and Louie’s Italian Restaurant. His mission in life was to serve others. He had a larger than life personality and anyone who met him felt his warmth and hospitality. He welcomed his daughter in laws Janet, Antonetta and Suzanne into his family. His greatest joy in life was family. He got great pleasure from his grandchildren, Cameron, Isabella, Brandon, Natalia and Mark, Jr. His life on earth is complete but his spirit, wisdom and love will carry on with his family and all that he touched. Please join us in the celebration of his life with visitation from 3:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Fred McGrath and Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, NY on Sunday, October 1. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, NY on Monday, October 2 at 10:45 am. Burial Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY
