Sorry to see of Lt. Flemings passing. Had the privilege to serve under him aboard the USS McGowan DD678. He was an excellent Engineering Officer. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Lt.

My sincerest condolences to all the Flemings and their extended families and good friends…although I no longer live in the area I remember Mr. Fleming well. His son, Michael Jr. was (and remains) a good friend from high school and we had many great times at the Fleming household back in those days. Mr. Fleming’s pride in his family was obvious, and I remember his dry wit and what I supposed at the time to be a state of adult bemusement at his son’s friends and their activities—sports, movies, music, comic books, our beat up cars, the late night conversations—but what I now know was a wise acknowledgment of youth, and probably a connection to his own past and lifelong friendships. A good man, and I know how much Mike relied on his father for advice and guidance in his life, sharing many anecdotes over the years.
When a patriarch passes on, the ground seems to shift beneath us, but we steady ourselves in the certainty of a life well-lived and all the indelible memories. Peace and love…
