Fisher, Elizabeth McCooey March 2, 1985 - January 11, 2022

Elizabeth Marie (McCooey) Fisher passed away on January 11, 2022 after a valiant fight with cancer. Liz was born and raised in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. She graduated as an accomplished student, thespian, and athlete from the Prout School. She then attended Northeastern University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Liz spent the next decade living and working in Manhattan where she met the love of her life, her husband, Patrick Fisher, of Pittsburgh. While Liz was the best friend you could ask for—kind, considerate, thoughtful and always there when you needed her— none of that compared to her endless love and devotion to her two young sons, Beaudry Richard and Colton Joseph.  Though her time with them was inexplicably brief, the amount of love she showed them each day will last through their lives.

Liz was predceased by her grandparents Edwin and Mary (Eddy) McCooey, and Vincent and Theresa (Beaudry) Joyce, along with her godmother, Cheryl Beaudry Martin. At the young age of 36, she also leaves behind her adoring and devoted parents Joseph McCooey and wife Carolyn, of Matunuck, RI, and Joan McCooey and partner David Sisson, of Matunuck, RI; her older brother Edwin McCooey and wife Jennifer of North Kingstown, RI, and younger sister Ro Summers and husband Phillip of Ferrara, Italy. She also left behind her mother and father-in-law who adored her, John and Diane Fisher, of Pittsburgh, PA; and Patrick’s brothers George Fisher and wife Martha, of Houston, TX, John Richard Fisher and wife Geffan Pearlson, of Oakland, CA, and Michael Fisher, of Sandpoint, ID. Her eleven nieces and nephews (Harper and Jameson McCooey, Georgia, Kennedy, and William Summers, Mack, June, Ruby, and John B. Fisher, and Itai and Noa Fisher) will forever feel the absence of their favorite Auntie Lala.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 14 at 10:45am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bronxville, NY. A memorial service will be planned for a future date in Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, donations in Liz’s name would be appreciated for the Touching Hearts Program offered through CancerCare (NY).

My heart is broken. Liz was an amazing friend – kind, selfless and deeply thoughtful. Ever the planner, she always made sure to reach out and make it feel like no time had passed. She was funny and silly and so much fun. I am thankful to have so many amazing memories of trips taken, nights in the city and late night chats. My heart aches for her two precious boys who I know we’re the absolute lights of her life. They had the best Mommy in the world and I know she will be with them always. Love to Patrick and all of Liz’s family and friends during this impossible time. I will miss you endlessly, My Lizzie.

I am so sorry for your loss. Liz and I were at Msgr. Clarke through Prout together. She was also so kind to everyone. There are so many great memories that come to mind from those years in school together. While we went separate ways after college, we always said happy birthday to each other and stayed in touch in small ways here and there. I am heartbroken to hear of her passing. She is a wonderful person, someone you never forget. I know she was an amazing mother as well. Praying for everyone at this difficult time, Liz touched so many people’s lives. Rest easy, Liz.

Sincerest condolences. Liz was such a bright light. She adored my sister Rachel and her best friend Lisa, as they did her. We only met a few times in person but when I did see her with the girls she was always smiling and gave me the biggest hug. I would hear stories about her and her baby boys and how much joy they brought her. Always in our hearts. She will be forever missed. May her memory be for a blessing. Sending support and love.

Please accept our most sincere sympathy on the passing of this most incredible young woman. From Msgr. Clarke to Prout, Liz was one of those students that stood out; her abilities in the classroom, on the athletic fields, and on stage were unparalleled. Above all, she was a person of great beauty, both inside and out, with tenacity, compassion, and love that were unending. Her smiles brought a light to those around her and her brief time on this earth truly made a difference to those fortunate enough to meet her. Our family will be keeping her family and friends in our thoughts and prayers. May her spirit, energy, and love of life continue in all our hearts.

It is always devastating to learn of a former student’s passing, but it is particularly hard to read of Liz and the pain she must have endured. She will never be replaced in the lives of her loving family, nor in the hearts of those of us she touched through her music and her vibrant presence. While she brought many roles to life on The Prout School’s stage, her most outstanding is the person she grew to be. She will be in my prayers along with the McCooey and Fisher families. My deepest condolence.

How lucky we we to have Liz in this world? I had the joy of knowing her our whole lives. I remember the scrappy, willful, determined kid who grew into a scrappy, willful, determined and completely beautiful woman. Funny, wickedly intelligent, and outrageously talented…I always looked up to her, even though she was like a little sister to me. And her voice…she sang with power and clarity and her whole heart was in every note. There is no one like her, and there never will be again. All of my love to the McCooeys, the Fishers, and everyone who loved her as ferociously as she loved them. I will miss her forever.

We were so sorry to hear of Liz’s passing. We have the fondest memories of her from her high school days at Prout in RI. Our son Patrick performed with her in the school musicals and she attended a cast party or two at our home in Westerly. Her brother Eddie and Patrick were in the same year…and how we loved it when Liz was around! Not only did her presence brighten the room…she was always very kind and sweet to all. A joy to be with.
To the McCooey and Fisher families,
Please accept our deepest sympathy. We hope it gives you some comfort to know that Heaven has gained a beautiful Angel who is closer to all of you now than ever before. In Eternal life.

Liz and I were in the same graduating class at Prout. When I think back on my time at Prout, she stands out in my mind as a very kind, talented and smiling girl. I remember being at a retreat our senior year and a class mate struggling with some family issues, he pointed out how Liz was the one friend that helped him get through those tough times. I never forgot that, almost twenty years later, what an important friend she was to our classmates in a time of need. Like Liz, she and I are mothers to sons. I can imagine she made motherhood magical for her two young boys. That love and joy she experienced with them will carry within her soul forever. May you rest in peace Liz. To the McCooey Family, The Fisher Family, you are in my heart.
    Warmest Regards,

I started at my old firm in 2003 and Liz McCooey was my coverage at Morgan Stanley. Over the next seventeen years, she continued to be my Morgan Stanley coverage even though I went on to join two different companies. I considered myself one of the luckiest people to be able to work with such a wonderful, kind, professional woman. She took her work seriously, but never seemed overly anxious or tense. Most important, she always was a joy to work with and she had a wonderful sense of humor.

Liz touched everyone that knew her. She managed to brighten the day of everyone that met her. Losing Liz is devastating, and she will be missed terribly.
