Elizabeth Marie (McCooey) Fisher passed away on January 11, 2022 after a valiant fight with cancer. Liz was born and raised in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. She graduated as an accomplished student, thespian, and athlete from the Prout School. She then attended Northeastern University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Liz spent the next decade living and working in Manhattan where she met the love of her life, her husband, Patrick Fisher, of Pittsburgh. While Liz was the best friend you could ask for—kind, considerate, thoughtful and always there when you needed her— none of that compared to her endless love and devotion to her two young sons, Beaudry Richard and Colton Joseph. Though her time with them was inexplicably brief, the amount of love she showed them each day will last through their lives.
Liz was predceased by her grandparents Edwin and Mary (Eddy) McCooey, and Vincent and Theresa (Beaudry) Joyce, along with her godmother, Cheryl Beaudry Martin. At the young age of 36, she also leaves behind her adoring and devoted parents Joseph McCooey and wife Carolyn, of Matunuck, RI, and Joan McCooey and partner David Sisson, of Matunuck, RI; her older brother Edwin McCooey and wife Jennifer of North Kingstown, RI, and younger sister Ro Summers and husband Phillip of Ferrara, Italy. She also left behind her mother and father-in-law who adored her, John and Diane Fisher, of Pittsburgh, PA; and Patrick’s brothers George Fisher and wife Martha, of Houston, TX, John Richard Fisher and wife Geffan Pearlson, of Oakland, CA, and Michael Fisher, of Sandpoint, ID. Her eleven nieces and nephews (Harper and Jameson McCooey, Georgia, Kennedy, and William Summers, Mack, June, Ruby, and John B. Fisher, and Itai and Noa Fisher) will forever feel the absence of their favorite Auntie Lala.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 14 at 10:45am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bronxville, NY. A memorial service will be planned for a future date in Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, donations in Liz’s name would be appreciated for the Touching Hearts Program offered through CancerCare (NY).
