Finnegan, Michael J. March 12, 1936 - March 10, 2021

Michael J. Finnegan died peacefully at home March 10, 2021.  He was born in the Bronx in 1936 to Eleanor and Michael P. Finnegan and lived most of his days in Riverdale, Crestwood, and Bronxville. His Catholic faith was Michael’s North Star. From his days as a seminarian to his career as an educator and an accomplished court reporter in the New York justice system, living a life in the image of Jesus Christ was Michael’s great conviction. He practiced his vocation through a lifetime of service and communion with fellow congregants at St. John’s Visitation Parish, the Parish of Annunciation – Our Lady of Fatima, and the Church of Saint Joseph in Bronxville. He is survived by his loving and devoted sister Charlotte Cassels. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew and their families with whom he was always at home: Ellen Marie Kenny, her husband Martin who was especially loyal and gracious to Michael always, and their daughters Maeve and Kate; Tom Cassels, his wife Alison, and their sons Colin and Nick; and Colleen Crawford, her husband T.J., and their daughters Peyton and Avery. He joyfully followed his beloved Boston Celtics, Detroit Lions and St. Louis Cardinals and we will forever check the box scores in his memory.
