We are deeply saddened to announce Dr. Frank R. Fazio has passed away peacefully Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the age of 75. Frank was born on September 9th 1943 to the late Rosario & Carmela (Miraglia) Fazio. Frank is survived by his loving wife Susan, treasured by his sons Dr. Roger Fazio (Angela), Dominick Fazio (Julie), his adoring daughter Jennifer (Lino) and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan and Noelle. He is also survived by his loving siblings Rosina Feagin (Curt), Maria Dunn (deceased) and his many caring nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Frank was born in New York City and later moved to the Bronx with his family. He attended Fordham Preparatory School and later attended Iona College and Fordham University where he achieved his Masters and Doctorate Degrees. Frank followed his passion and became a Professor of Biology at Iona College where he taught and mentored for 51 years. While at Iona Frank also coached the Golf Team for many years including winning 1 MAAC Championship. He was the academic advisor to the Basketball and Baseball teams and was inducted into the Iona College Athletic Hall of Fame. Frank also founded the Iona College Chapter of Beta Beta (Biology Honor Society). He was named Professor Emeritus at Iona upon retirement and received numerous awards and recognition for his dedication and service. For over 20 years Frank taught as an adjunct Professor teaching Microbiology at Westchester Community College. In addition to his career as a Professor, he served as the Golf Chairman and President at Wykagyl Country Club as well as the HOA President at The Winchester.
Frank will be remembered as loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. The happiest times in his life were when he was surrounded by his family and friends. He touched many lives and will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held, Friday, September 6th from 3pm to 8pm at McGrath Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated, Saturday, September 7th at 9:45am at St. Josephs Church, Bronxville, NY
