Fay, James P., “Jimmy” April 27, 1964 - May 25, 2023

James Patrick Fay passed away on May 25 with his beloved family by his side.  He is predeceased by his cherished parents, Richard J. Fay and Regina Ormond Fay.  He is survived by the love of his life, Kristen Folkemer Fay; his adoring children, Caitlin (fiancé Sean Cronin), Matthew (fiancée Kayla Pillari), and Patrick (Sami Foley); the woman he most admired, Patricia Cahill Fay; his devoted siblings, Bryan, Regina and Sara; his in-laws, whom he welcomed with open arms; his nieces and nephews on whom he always doted; his beloved extended family of Fay, Ormond and Cahill aunts, uncles and cousins; and a loyal and joyful group of friends from all chapters of his life.  Special thanks to his dedicated caretaker, Colleen Fay Ciafardini, who shepherded him with affection and wisdom during his last months.

Jimmy attended Annunciation Grammar School in Crestwood, Iona Prep, and Fairfield University.  He began and grew the career he enjoyed at Merrill Lynch, with a fellowship of lifelong friends.  He loved boat rides on his sacred place, Lake George, a good movie, and a fine cigar.  He cherished his later years in Florida finding sea glass on the Delray beach with all of the visitors he so welcomed, and playing 18 on a sunny day.

He always made room for another person at the table, always held the door for a lady as a gentleman would, always was quick with a joke that elicited genuine laughter, and always was nearby with an encouraging word or hug in a challenging time.  Jimmy’s optimism and gratitude were unparalleled, and to honor him, we ask that you, “Tell your mother you love her, and call Grandma.”  We are all better people for loving and being loved by Jimmy Fay.  Until we meet again.

To the Fay family, extended family and friends,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I am from the old days in Crestwood as one of the babysitters who took care of the Fay children. They always kept me on my toes with their running around, antics, and ‘the baking of the chocolate chip cookies’ (much to Reggie’s delight when she and Mr. Fay returned home). Jimmy was the oldest and from what I remember, he and his neighborhood friends always seemed to be running the show! He was full of energy, smarts, and always respectful. It’s no surprise that he turned out as delightful as people say. I’m sorry Jimmy is gone way too soon. My prayers are with you. May he rest in peace.

To The Fay Family- my thoughts and prayers are with you.
I knew Jimmy from the Bristal where my dad Frank GIlligan also lived.
Jimmy would greet me with that wonderful smile, a hug , a story and always held the door open for me because most of the time he was outside with his cigar.
I pray that he is at peace and that you all can hold onto the wonderful memories.
    Fondly,
    Kathy Latz

I shared with Jimmy my immense love for who he was, what he meant, and the life he led.

I have nothing unsaid with him. He was my hero and idol in life. I know it and he knows it.

I am truly sorry for anyone who feels the need to call that into question. It is just not the case.

I never had a cross word or left his presence without saying I love you and a kiss.

Rest well Jimmy! You did change the world and make it a better place. I am grateful and appreciative of your sacrifice and love for me.

Until we meet again, may the Mother Mary and our parents hold you close and treat you dear. You are a gift from God who touches hearts. God’s speed for peace.

    Love,
    Terry
