Farrell, Julia M May 29, 1944 - December 14, 2021

Julia M. Farrell passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the age of 77. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret (née Herlihy) Greene.Julia was married to the late Edward J. Farrell (FDNY) and is survived by her children John, Margaret (Maggie) and Deirdre Traficante (Lawrence) and granddaughter Brooke. Julia is also survived by her sisters Catherine and Theresa and brother Dennis and brother-in-law Peter Farrell and several nieces and nephews. Julia worked at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital for 32 years. Julia loved the beach, especially Ortley where she happily furnished and decorated the beach house. The Hamptons and Montauk were a close second and third. She was always ready to take a car ride with no specific direction, delighting in wherever the road took her since this usually resulted in finding new restaurants. Another favorite of Julia’s was shopping, especially for her children and more recently her granddaughter. She rarely came home empty handed. She loved trying new recipes and was a wonderful cook and baker. Her carrot cake and cheesecake were just two of her repertoire. And she always had a recommendation for the next book to read or asked for suggestions. Julia was the person one would talk to about anything. She listened and, if asked, offered her thoughts. She was filled with kindness and love for everyone. Her love and strength was reflected in her goal of making sure her children were happy and secure. Her love and kindness was also reflected in the friendships she made in grammar school and maintained throughout her life. Calling Hours at the Fred H.
