Britz, Everett Frank, Jr. April 19, 2024

Everett Frank Britz, Jr.; of Hastings-on-Hudson and formerly of Scarsdale, who served in both World War II and the Korean War as a first Lieutenant in the United States Navy,

died peacefully on November 5 of congestive heart failure at St. John’s Pavilion Hospital in Dobbs Ferry, NY. He was 87. He was born in the Bronx, NY where he was the first graduating class from the Bronx High School of Science and won the Westinghouse Prize for his development of a practical diving helmet. He received a B.S. in hydraulic engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and, as a member of the Naval ROTC, simultaneously received a commission as an Ensign in the US Navy. He served on the destroyers Beatty and Watts and also on submarines and in naval intelligence. After the military years, Mr. Britz was a partner in Britz Associates, a New York-based family real estate management and development firm. He served as President of the Alumni Association of RPI and received the Demers Medal for Service to his Alma Mater. In his later years Mr. Britz returned his passion for engineering as a field testing engineer for Interlock, an industrial testing and inspection company. He married Billie Sherrill in 1948 and they had two daughters, Diane Britz-Lotti and Meredith Britz-Shelley, and subsequently four grandchildren, Ariane and Samantha Lotti, and Atticus and Tyler Shelley. In addition to the above mentioned survivors is a sister, Lulu Britz-Gmoser. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 19 at 3PM at the Scarsdale Friends Meeting, 133 Popham Road, Scarsdale, NY.
