Dougherty, Rose Mary July 4, 1947 - July 20, 2020

Rose Mary Healy Dougherty died peacefully on July 20, 2020 as a result of Covid 19.  Rose was the devoted wife of Vincent J. Dougherty and they resided at the Kensington, White Plains, New York.  Rose was born in Providence, Rhode Island.  She was the daughter of the late George E. Healy (PPD) and Rose M. Healy.  Rose leaves six loving step-children:  Vincent J. Dougherty and his wife Diane; Frances Smith; Mary Frabotta and her husband Alfredo; Virginia LaFlamme and her husband Jerry; Teresa Ansah and her husband Joseph and Daniel Dougherty and his wife Alicia as well as numerous grandchildren.  Rose was the sister of Chief Judge George E. Healy and his wife Ruth and Bernard P. Healy and his wife Dorothy.  She was the adoring aunt of Timothy G. Healy and Paul F. Healy.  Rose also leaves behind Francesca, her treasured rescue dog and pal.

Rose served as Provost of Berkeley College, President and Special assistant to the President.  She received her Baccalaureate degree from Salve Regina University, her Master of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University and her Doctorate from the University of Toledo.  Under her stewardship, Berkeley received numerous accreditations which culminated in the authorization to confer Associate’s and Bachelors Degrees in Business Administration, Interior Design, Paralegal Studies, Justice Studies and Health Services.  She sheparded the transition of Berkeley College of New York and New Jersey to unify under one president and to obtain authorizations from the New York State Board of Regents and accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Church, Crestwood, New York to which friends and family are invited to attend maintaining current social distancing requirements.  Burial will be private.  Due to the pandemic, a celebration of Rose’s life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to the COVID-19 Relief Fund at White Plains Hospital and sent to: White Plains Hospital, 41 East Post Road, White Plains, NY 10601.
