Dougherty, Nora Ann July 23, 1928 - December 23, 2022

Nora Ann (Nan) Dougherty (née McDermott) passed away on December 23, 2022.  Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack and is survived by their six children: Mary (Tom Miller), Jack (Carolyn), Edward (Anne), Mark (Alison), Luke (MaryBeth), and Peter (Carol).  Ann was the very proud Nan to sixteen grandchildren: Sean (Mathilde LaMarre), Thomas (Kelly), Tara (Evan Schickel), Liam (Corinne), Megan, Kerrin, Jake, Tori Miller, Margaret, Elizabeth, Christina, Michael, J.P., Jack, Matthew, and Katie, as well as five great-grandchildren: Ryan, Rory, Benjamin, Declan, and Shea.  Ann was also predeceased by her parents, John and Bridget (Ward) McDermott and by her brothers John (Jean) and James (Mae) McDermott.
A proud Irish American, Nan was born in Jersey City and raised her family in the Crestwood section of Yonkers.
Nan was guided by her faith and love of family and friends.  She held a special place in her heart for the community of Crestwood and of Annunciation parish, the many who stood with her in the difficult times after the passing of her husband Jack. Throughout her life, Nan in turn extended herself to others who needed support in their times of need.
There was no surer way to see the joy in her eyes than when she was in the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing was ever more important to her that the love that she brought to and shared with her family. That love will live on.
A wake for Nan will be held at Fred H. McGrath & Son, Inc. Funeral Home at 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY 10708 on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 3pm-7pm.  The funeral Mass will be at Annunciation Church, 470 Westchester Avenue, Crestwood, New York 10707 on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 10:00am, with burial service to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 5 Bradhurst Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532.
