DiRenzo, Robert A. January 14, 1953 - May 23, 2023

Robert Anthony DiRenzo, 70, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He was born on January 14, 1953, in the Bronx, New York to Anthony and Vincenza DiRenzo, and lived a beautiful life filled with tons of love.  Family was the most important thing in the world to Bobby.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth, and two children, Matthew and Emily, all of whom are extremely proud to call him their husband and father. He was a beloved baby brother to Gerry Kureck, James DiRenzo (deceased) and Anne DiAntonio; brother-in-law to John Kureck (deceased), Lenny DiAntonio (deceased), Gloria DiRenzo, Tom and Karen Boelsen and Kathy and Bill Martin; and a treasured Uncle to so many nieces and nephews whom he cared for so much. In addition to the wonderful family Bobby was given, he was also blessed to have an extended family through so many lifelong friendships that he cherished. Bobby’s love for music and sports was a constant throughout his whole life.  From attending countless concerts to putting on his own, music was a staple. When it came to sports Bobby was an avid fan of the Giants and Yankees, but no team ever came close to his love for the New York Rangers. When people think of Bobby, they will think first about his kindness, loving demeanor, and warm smile.  He had a remarkable ability to make those around him feel so loved. As he struggled through the final years of his life battling Alzheimer’s, he never lost his warmth, compassion or joy being surrounded by the people he loved. In lieu of flowers, we would be honored to have donations sent in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association. Bobby will be dearly missed but always remembered. Calling Hours 4 to 8 pm on Friday, May 26th at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home from in Bronxville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial  will be held on Saturday, May 27th at St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, NY,  at 9:45 am. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Bobby’s life and the incredible person that he was.

I only knew Bobby for a short while during college. His personality was infectious and never failed to bring smiles to myself and of his many friends. Sill to this day when I think of him I cannot help but chuckle a little from some of the antics that went on. I was fortunate indeed to have been able to get to know Bobby and enjoyed many good times together during the ice hockey playing days of Iona. Bobby you will forever be in my heart and thoughts of you will also bring forth a warmth and happiness. I will always remember that smile, friendship and compassion for others. Rest In Peace my friend.

Bobby D, Sugar Bear. I write with a heavy heart. Though we haven’t seen each other since school I feel a great loss. I will never forget your influence on me. Your happiness, smile, friendship and introduction to the music we listened to over the years at Iona. The closeness we enjoyed, depended on daily, and the struggles, both good and bad, we endured on the ice will never be forgotten. My deepest condolences to the whole DiRenzo family. And rest assured Bobby will never be forgotten. Fair well my brother.??

Mary Beth, Matt, Emily and your extended family, we are so sorry for your profound loss. It was our pleasure and honor to know Bobby even though it was mostly in his latter years. It was always fun to talk sports with him in the summers when we visited you all and he always lit up when he spoke about his precious children. Please know he will always be with you and I’m sure will be proud of the adults you will become.
