DiGiorgi, Matthew F. July 18, 1953 - December 14, 2022

Matthew F. DiGiorgi – beloved husband of Adelaide DiGiorgi, eldest brother of Godfrey(Felipe), Philip (Judy), Joe, and Frank (Denise) DiGiorgi. Stepdad to Lynn Manning (Francis) and Jean Steck – proud Granddad of Allie, Liz and Jennie Manning and Kyle & Michael Steck. Caring Uncle to Jessie, Frankie, James, Robin &David.

For all his physical struggles to stay healthy in life, Matthew was a daredevil – he raced Formula cars and motorcycles. His keen mind and rapid insights were an inspiration, and an aid, to the entire family. Meeting Adelaide, his soon to be life partner in the early 1980’s, they married in 1989 and made their home in Tuckahoe.  He was always there to support Adelaide in her League of Women Voters and American Association of University Women activities and leadership roles. So smart and intelligent, Matthew was a true technology expert, attending early AI conventions and doing meaningful work for Colgate and Quest Diagnostics.  He was so grateful for the gift bestowed upon him by niece Robin Murphy in 2001- a kidney transplant which gave him 21 years of life he otherwise likely would not have had. His calm presence and unique wit will be sorely missed by all who knew him and loved and cared deeply for him.

In Lieu of flowers, a donation to Doctors Without Borders in his name would be appreciated.

Calling Hours:   4 to 7 pm, Monday, December 19, 2022

Funeral Service will be planned for a later date.

My classmate (Fordham Prep ’71) Matt was one of a kind. The bowler hat (and sometimes cape) so defined his personality. I can see that smile by closing my eyes. Our moms became best buds and served as Presidents of the Fordham Prep Mothers Club, they so loved the Prep. Lost touch with Matt but have never lost touch with the memories of him. He defined “unique.”

My prayers and condolences for Matt’s family. Live on the memories! I know Matt is with the moms in heaven.

Matt was my classmate at Fordham Prep, class of 1971. I recall with fondness his wry sense of humor. We recently reconnected and I shared some photos of our 50th reunion which he wasn’t able to attend.. My condolences to the family. May your memories comfort you. RIP Matt.

I first met Matt during our first year at Fordham Prep. Matt was a unique individual; he had a dry wit, smart, funny and non- judgmental. spending time with Matt, his four brothers and his amazing mother Louise at their beautiful home in New Rochelle are among the treasured memories of my teen years. We lost touch after high school but reconnected about 15 years ago, and we met regularly to compare notes as we aged. We celebrated our 60th and 65th birthdays together, and were looking to do the same for our 70th next summer, but that was not to be.
My deepest sympathy to his wife Adelaide, his four brothers and his extended family.

As a classmate (FP ’71) I knew Matt both on and off campus for many years, In the late 70’s we reconnected over motorcycle riding. He turned me on to the benefits of a leather jacket for riding in winter for which I am thankful to this day. We shared many adventures together. I am saddened to hear of his passing. I regret not being able to attend the viewing today. Be assured of my prayers for the family at this time of sorrow and loss.. May the God of all comfort uphold and encourage you with His great and precious promises.
