Nicholas H. De Martino Jr., beloved only child of Nicholas and Susan Hanley De Martino,

passed away suddenly on April 6, 2012. He was born on July 8, 1966 and grew up in Scarsdale, New York. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School and served as an altar boy in the parish. He graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1985. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 3. He participated in the Local 3 Sword of Light Pipe and Drum Band, as well as the Catholic Council of New York. Additionally, Nickey was a part-time Emergency Medical Technician as well as a Scarsdale Volunteer firefighter. Prior to his knee injuries, Nickey was an avid skier. He was a devoted Grateful Dead fan, and traveled all over the country to witness their concerts. Nickey had many lifelong friends he stayed in touch with throughout his life. He was a kind, loving and gentle man, who loved music and movies and had a passion for cooking. He was a friend to all and all who knew him loved him. Nick was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Marjorie Hanley, and Henry and Theresa De Martino. He is survived by his godmother, Gail Marie Stewart, his uncle, John E, Hanley Jr., his aunt, Anna Sarnataro, and many cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, between the hours of 4 to 8 pm Friday. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Post Road & Grand Blvd., Scarsdale, New York, on Saturday, April 14 at 10 am. Final prayer service will continue at the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel, Bronx, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, Graymoor, P.O. Box 300, Garrison, New York 10524-0301.
