Johanna (Joan) Curran, a long time resident of Yonkers, died peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Rosary Hill Nursing Home. Joan was born in Limerick, Ireland to Robert and Mary Heffernan. She loved her childhood in Ireland but wanted to pursue her dreams in America. She met her beloved late husband of 44 years, Thomas, in Woodside, Queens. She is survived by six children, Thomas, Robert, Maureen, Brian, Joann, and Eileen and by 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Jessica, Emily, Caitlin, Erin, Grace, Hannah, Timothy, Tara, Gabriella, and Aidan. The family will receive friends at The Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home in Bronxville, Thursday, 7 to 9 pm and Friday 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Saturday, December 17 at 9:45 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Rosary Hill in Hawthorne.
