Crane, Albert H. , III September 7, 1942 - October 13, 2021

We announce with great sadness that on October 13, 2021, Albert Harrison Crane, III passed away at the age of 79.

Albert lived a beautiful, hard-working, and fun-filled life. He was born in New York City on September 7, 1942 to Albert Harrison Crane, Jr. and Audrey Cumiskey Crane. They lived in New York and then moved to Connecticut, where he became a huge Yankees and Giants fan despite the proximity to Boston.

He attended the Berkshire School in Massachusetts, graduating in 1961, followed by Trinity College in Connecticut, where he earned his BA degree in Economics. While he was there he was a leader of the FM radio station WRTC. Albert continued to further his education at Syracuse University, where he earned an MS in Communication and Wharton Business School where he achieved an MBA.

Following his graduation from Wharton, he started his beloved career at CBS, ultimately serving as the VP of Eastern Sales. In addition, he was a Lecturer at the NYU Stern School of Business and eventually started his own companies, ExtraNet and Crane Media Sales. He loved the Television Media business.

Albert and his wife, Mary Ella Crane, moved to Bronxville, New York where they started their family. He adored his daughter Beth, son Albert, son-in-law Jonathan, daughter-in-law Jen, grandchildren Charlie and Harrison, as well as his sister Carole, brother-in-law Tom, cousins and extended family.

Albert was an avid tennis and paddle tennis player. He played at the Bronxville Field Club, where he formed some of his many lifelong friendships. He was also a big presence in the Hamptons, where he made many lasting friendships, as well. He was VP-Tennis of the SandBar Beach Club in Quogue and one of its star players. In addition, he organized and ran a popular summerhouse group in Remsenburg and later became a member of the Windmill House in Westhampton. He was best known for planning reunions, “New York, New York,” sing-a-longs, New York vs. Boston Tomato War, and doing a very special summer house group dance, the “Agadou.”

He will be remembered forever for his love of family, friends, and bringing people together.

Albert’s wake will be held at Fred H. McGrath & Son, Inc. on Monday, October 25th, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y., and a Memorial Service will be held at the Reformed Church of Bronxville at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26th.
