Joseph D. Cosgrove, age 86, of Crestwood, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 13, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn Murphy Cosgrove, his daughter, Noreen (Bill) Flewelling, and son, Joseph (Megan) Cosgrove. Beloved Pop to seven grandchildren: Sean, Elizabeth, Caitlin, Emma, JT, Maggie, and Charlotte. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Reidy, and many nieces and nephews. Joe grew up in the Inwood section of Manhattan and was a proud graduate of Good Shepherd Grammar School, Power Memorial Academy, Fordham University and Fordham Law School. He practiced law in many areas for more than 50 years, beginning on Wall Street to finishing his career as an 18B attorney in Yonkers. He was a humble man, a compassionate listener, and was always willing to provide counsel to those in need. Joe and Evelyn moved to Crestwood in 1969 and became active members of the Church of the Annunciation, where he was an usher and lector for many years. He enjoyed spending summers with his family in Spring Lake, NJ. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18 from 4-8pm at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar St., Bronxville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Annunciation in Crestwood on Thursday, May 19 at 11am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
