Blakeslee, Frances S “Mimi” December 12, 1936 - June 2, 2021

Frances ‘Mimi” S. Blakeslee passed on June 2, 2021.  She was born in Richmond, Virginia to Dr. James Asa and Frances R. Shield in 1936. Devoted wife for 58 years to the late Donald P. Blakeslee. Loving mother of Frances B. Stella, Thomas P. Blakeslee, and the late D. Powell Blakeslee, Jr. Beloved grandmother of five: Alexandra, Montana, Michael, Kaitlin and Jameson. Loving sister of her brothers Dr. James A. Shield, Jr., Edward H. Shield and Henry A. Shield.

A 60-year resident of Bronxville, NY, finding it one day in 1961 as “the first beautiful town on the train north from NYC”.    She enjoyed being a part of leadership teams within various organizations in Bronxville, but most importantly, the friends she made and cherished through these organizations. She was a long-time member of The Reformed Church, particularly enjoying the music and starting The Blakeslee Family Music Fund there.  She enjoyed her work and colleagues as Chief Technician of EEG at Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, NY for over 25 years and working with various neurologists in the region as well.

She loved her family most of all, but always had a passion for horses, growing up as an avid fox hunter in her earlier years in Virginia. She enjoyed sports, played tennis at the BFC, and became a dedicated fan of the NY Yankees/Giants – never missing a game.

She was always gentle, caring, kind and a true southern lady.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
