Bigley, Rosalie Kay July 1, 1936 - July 14, 2021

Rosalie Kay Bigley passed away peacefully on July 14, 2021 after a 30-year struggle with Early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. She was born to Charles and Margaret Doviken in 1936. Kay was one of 13 children and learned at a young age that family was a priority.

Kay had a very successful working career, starting as Secretary to the President of Hotel Gramatan in Bronxville, then working for Sears & Roebuck, followed by a long career at the New York Telephone Company.

Kay married James M. Bigley in 1957. Together, they had 3 loving children: Elizabeth, James and John.  Her children were always her first priority and her wish for them was to be happy in life. Jim and Kay embodied the meaning of true love and were a role model for their children, both in good and difficult times. As Kay advanced in her illness, Jim became her full-time caregiver and he seemed to love her more with each passing day. When Kay became a resident of Providence Rest Nursing home, Jim visited her every single day, until his death in 2003.

Kay is survived by her two sons, James M. Bigley Jr., his wife Gail, and John C. Bigley, and her two loving grandchildren, Emma and Matthew. She was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Anne, who passed away 12 days before she did.

The Bigley Family would like to sincerely thank everyone who cared for our Mom over the years, especially the nurses, nurses aids, doctors, and administrators at both Providence Rest in the Bronx and the Dumont Center in New Rochelle, as well as everyone else who showed her respect and compassion when she needed it. We would also like to thank the Sister’s of Saint John the Baptist for the many years of prayers, spiritual support and for welcoming our family into theirs.

Kay Bigley was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will deeply be missed.
