BARNA, AGNES MIHOK, a resident of the Osborn Retirement Community, in Rye, past away peacefully on Oct. 11, at the age of 94.  Born in Yonkers, NY, she was a proud and happy resident of Bryn Mawr Knowlls for 45 years.  Agnes was a graduate of Commerce High School and a parishioner of the Most Holy Trinity Church, in Yonkers.  She  was predeceased in August 1990 by her beloved husband George and in April  1994 by her dearest daughter Francine Haggerty.  Agnes is survived by her devoted daughter Georgine B. Hoar, her sons-in-law, Leo J. Hoar, Jr., William P. Haggerty and her three adoring grandchildren, Leo J., (“Buddy”) Hoar III, Jennifer Lee Hoar and Peter D. Haggerty.  Agnes Barna was a Vice President of The Wanamaker Millrose Athletic Association, a historic track and field enterprise of the John Wanamaker Company for more then 30 years.   She took great pride and joy in the preparation and management of the annual indoor Millrose Games competitions each winter in Madison Square Garden.  Her great zest for life, independent spirit, many interest’s and abiding love for family and friends will always be remembered.   Agnes’ family want to express their heart felt gratitude and deep appreciation to all the medical and residential staff at The Osborn for their extraordinary care and loving friendship of a dear mother and grandmother.  A wake will be held at the Fred H. CANADAY- Katherine Monroe, of Bronxville, NY, died at the home, October 4, 2008, after her second battle against cancer. She was 72 years young.  Kathy was born in Belmont, MA on October 6, 1935 to Henry Miles and Eleanor Shea O’Bryan.  She was a graduate of Smith College where she earned a BA and continued on to Yale University where she completed her Masters in Teaching.  She is survived by her three children, Jennifer, Ed and Melissa, daughter-in-law Mary, son-in-law Patrick and soon to be son-in-law Rick, grandchildren Seth, Zoe, Shea, Allie, Reilly and Julia, brother Henry, sisters Elly and Sarah and admirer, Peter.  She was an active member of the Smith College Alumnae Association, a docent at the New York Botanical Gardens, ESL Tutor, volunteer at the Bedford Hills Correctional Center, member of the Bronxville Board of Education from 1979-1982, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and the Bronxville representative for the Westchester Girl Scout Council. Clarke, Bernadette, of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Yonkers, NY passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008. She was 87. She was born in the Bronx, NY on December 29, 1920 to Bernard and Clara Lynch. Bernadette married Edward Clarke on September 25, 1943. Bernadette is survived by her loving family: son Edward and his spouse Maggie, grandchildren Michelle and Rebecca, son Bernard and his spouse Pat, and grandchildren Edward and Sean, and son Peter and spouse Karen and grandchildren Braden, Taegan and Risten. COLEY- Esther Gussaroff 97, beloved wife of the late Mortimer Coley, stepmother of Dorothy Coley and grandmother of Lara Antonucci. Esther was the youngest of six children of Jenny and Hillel Gussaroff. A role model for three generations of nieces and nephews, she will always be remembered for her kindness, zest for life, love of ice dancing and piano. Burial service 11:30 AM Thursday April 10, Mt. COTTRELL MARY LEE , a resident of Mount Vernon, NY for 50 years, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. She was 90 years old and died of complications from emphysema. Mrs. Cottrell was born on January 16, 1918 in Rock Hill, South Carolina to devoted parents Ebenezer and Beulah Gettys. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC and worked as a medical technologist in Washington, D.C., Asheville and Durham, North Carolina before marrying and becoming a full-time homemaker. She will be remembered for her gregarious personality, quick mind, deep faith, love of her family and its ancestry, as well as her considerable talents in sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking and gardening. An "old soul" and true citizen-of-the-world, her like will not soon be seen again, and we are the poorer for her passing. She truly will be missed by her adoring family and dear friends, many of a lifetime's duration. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Peter R. Cottrell, two loving sons, Robert and Bruce Cottrell, Robert's wife and loving daughter in law Kimberly and three loving grandsons, Justin, Zachary and Alex Cottrell. Her beloved younger brother, C. Spencer Gettys, who saw action during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge, died earlier this year. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 31 at 1 PM at the Reformed Church in Bronxville, where she was a longtime member. CUMMARO, NICHOLAS, 90, of Yonkers on Feb 5, 2008.  Husband of the late Helen Maher Cummaro and the late Lorrainne Beja Cummaro. Nick was the last of the original Cummaro family that immigrated to America from Italy in the late 1800s. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Air Force during WWII serving in the Asian-Pacific theatre. Nick was an active member of the VFW, volunteered his time in various capacities and was a popular fixture in the community. He is survived by his three children,  Richard, Christopher, and Janet, and four grandchildren. Calling hours at the Fred H. DEMARTINO, DR. ANTHONY G. passed away peacefully on January 7, 2008 at the age of 76. He courageously battled bile duct cancer for two years. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marlene; his children, Anthony and Laura; his daughter-in-law, Catherine and his grandchildren, Emma and Andrew. A first generation Italian-American, Dr. DeMartino was born on October 7, 1931 in the Bronx to Agostino and Vincenzina DeMartino. At a young age he decided to become a physician after watching his father suffer from leukemia. He worked to pay his way through school from the age of 13. He graduated from Iona College, cum laude, in 1953 and earned his M.D. from SUNY College of Medicine at New York City, Downstate in 1957. He conducted his post graduate training at the Kings County Hospital Medical Center and in the Cardiopulmonary Laboratory at Cornell University Medical College, NY Hospital. Dr, DeMartino also served as a Captain in the US Army Medical Corps. Dr. DeMartino maintained a private practice specializing in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He was appointed to numerous hospital and academic positions and medical boards, most notably at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY and Our Lady of Mercy (formerly Misericordia Hospital) in the Bronx, NY. He was also proud to serve as an Honorary police Surgeon for the NYC Police Department for nearly 30 years. Dr. DeMartino cherished his family and friends. He was an avid photographer, first-rate cook, and an enthusiastic electronics guru. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Calling hours at he Fred H. Dingler, Elizabeth Ahus; died peacefully at home on Wednesday July2, 2008, surrounded by her family.  Elizabeth was born in the Bronx to John and Rose Ahus and lovingly raised by her step-mother Catherine.  Elizabeth married Alfred Dingler, who predeceased her in 1991.  She was a longtime resident of Mt. Vernon, NY.  Elizabeth was a longtime parishioner at Untied Lutheran Church in Mt., Vernon.  She is survived by her four children Elizabeth Wilde of Tarrytown, Ronald Dingler of Putnam Valley, Carol and Barbara Dingler of Mt. Vernon, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Dingler of Putnam Valley.  She is survived by her son-in-law Peter Wilde and daughter-in-law Vicki Dingler.  She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.  The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at Stanford Hospital in Stanford, Ct. for their compassion and care during her hospital; stays.  Family will receive friends at The Fred H. Ellinghaus, Erlaine Dietrich , 85, of Bronxville, NY, died peacefully July 8, 2008, surrounded by her husband and their children and spouses.  She was born on June 25, 1923, in Baltimore, MD, to Elaine Anacker and Earl Dietrich.  She was educated in Baltimore, MD, and graduated from Forest Park High School.  After graduation she planned to join the Ted Shawn Ballet Troop until her grandmother advised her to “Marry Buddy”.  She took her grandmother’s advice and married William “Buddy” Ellinghaus on May 31, 1942. They just recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
     As a former ballerina and lover of the opera, Erlaine will always be remembered for her artistic appreciation and accomplishments.  While raising eight children, she also graciously and lovingly supported her husband in his many endeavors, among which included President of New York Telephone Company, President of AT&T, Chairman of the Board of Channel 13, and many civic duties involving New York City.
     In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by their 8 children, 26 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

FABRIZI, NELLO, SR., Age 72, perished on January 29, 2008 following a courageous battle with colin cancer.  He was a much-loved and respected figure to all who knew him.  He was born on April 19, 1936 in Anagni, Italy to the late Joseph & Emilia Fabrizi.  Nello Fabrizi was perhaps best-known for his woodworking shop in Pelham, NY.  A place he spent endless hours enjoying his love of woodworking.  Beloved husband of Maria Fabrizi for 45 years who survived.  Together, they experienced the changing scenes of life in the joyous and fruitful companionship that was entrusted to them at their union of marriage.  Devoted father of Joseph Fabrizi, Nello Fabrizi Jr. and wife Linda, Judith Ann Raneri and her husband Frank and Vincent Fabrizi and wife Annette; cherished grandfather of Nello III, Teresa, Tina, Frank Joseph, Isabella, Eliana Marie, Nicolas Jonathan and Vincent Luciano; and dear Brother of Antonio Fabrizi.  Visitation will be held at the Fred H. FAIRSTEIN, ALICE ATWELL; of Mount Vernon, New York, known also as Bobbie, died on July 3, 2008. Born April 17, 1920 to James and Ida Atwell, she was a 1941 graduate of the Mount Vernon Hospital School of Nursing and served as a U.S. Navy nurse during WWII. In 1943 she married her beloved husband, the late Samuel Johnson Fairstein, a Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiology and Chief of Anesthesiology at Mount Vernon Hospital from 1957 to 1984. In 1965, Alice joined the staff of Louise Wise Services of Manhattan, where she was a supervising pediatric nurse, participating in the care of thousands of infants and children until the agency closed in 2004. In 1976, she received her B.A. degree from the College of New Rochelle. She will be remembered for her skilled nursing care and compassion, her wise council to friends of all ages, and the great spirit of joy with which she lived her very full life. Alice loved being a wife, mother and grandmother above all else. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Guy and Marisa Fairstein of White Plains, her daughter and son-in-law, Linda Fairstein and Justin Feldman of Manhattan, grandchildren Lisa and Marc Fairstein, surrogate son David Braunstein, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and scores of devoted friends.

FREY, RUTH 86, of Eastchester, died peacefully on Thursday at Lawrence Medical Center. She was born on October 4, 1921 in the Bronx and was raised in Crestwood. After graduating from NYU she taught for the next few years at Greenburg School in White Plains. In 1947 she began working for Standard Oil Company in New York City where she worked for 36 years, retiring in 1983. Her hobbies included cooking and playing the piano. On holidays she would not only cook a delicious meal for her family but also entertain them with music. She volunteered for various charities and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.  She is survived by her cousins Joseph, Ken, Doug and Sue Glassmacher who will miss her kindness, witty sense of humor, and delicious cooking. Fuller, William D. (Dan), age 89, longtime resident of Bronxville, NY, died on June 23, 2008.  He was born and raised in St. Louis, MO.  He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting from St. Louis University, Magna Cum Laude.  After graduation, he volunteered to serve his country in World War II and joined the Navy, being stationed in the South Pacific.  He was Honorably Discharged a Captain of an LCT with the rank of Lieutenant (jg).  Dan Married Marie Brady, of Bethlehem, PA, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Bethlehem in 1950.  The couple lived St. Louis where he was already employed by IBM.  In 1957, they moved to Bronxville where Dan went on to urn his Masters Degree in Business from New York University, while continuing his employment with IBM for a total of 35 years in various capacities including Field Sales, Branch Sales Management and Headquarters Management.  Locally, Dan was an active member of St. Joseph’s Men’s Club, and was a lector at St. Joseph’s Church for many years.  He served 2 years as President of the Father’s Club and then 5 years as Chairman of the Board for School of the Holy Child in Rye, NY.  He also was in several theatre productions while living in St. Louis and continued that interest for the Bronxville Women’s Club in his role as David Larrabee, in the show, Sabrina.  In recent years, he has been an active member of the Bronxville Seniors Club where he took part in many group activities, presentations and delivered several talks and lectures.  For over 10 years, he volunteered his time doing tax returns for senior citizens in the area.  He is predeceased by his wife of over 55 years, Marie.  He is survived by 2 daughters, Mary McGrath and husband Michael of Ridgefield, CT.,  and Anne Marie MacDonald and husband Michael of Chicago, IL.  He is also survived by 3 grandsons Kevin, Brian and Timothy, as well as 2 nephews and 1 niece.  One brother had predeceased him.  Calling hours at the Fred H. HOLDEN; C. STUART loving husband of Pat O’Donnell Holden passed on Sunday December 2, 2007 at the age of 81. Known as Stu to his friends and family, he was a compassionate father of C. Hopwood, Loretta Theresa 85 of Bronxville, N.Y. passed away peacefully at her home on July 23rd, 2008. Loretta was born Sept. 23rd, 1922 in the Bronx to Margaret and Henry Cullinane. She married her husband Martin M. Hopwood on Aug. 1st, 1942. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, three cherished sons, Martin Hopwood Jr. (Ann) of Garden City, N.Y., Lawrence Hopwood (Kerry) of Bronxville, N.Y., Richard Hopwood (Ann) of Harrison, N.Y., and her nine grandchildren, Brian (Cecilia), John, Kristin, Heather, R.J., Mathew, Lauren, Tara and Greg Hopwood. She is also survived by her bother Harry Cullinane and sister in-laws Eileen Cullinane and  June Lynch, as well as her many loving nieces and nephews.
Loretta was at the forefront of working women in the business world. She began her career after graduating from Hunter High School and Delahanty Business School. During W.W. II she was a civilian employee of the army. HYATT, MARGARET ("Meg"), a resident of Bronxville, New York and former long term resident of Pelham Manor, died after a brief illness on January 9, 2008. She was born on August 26, 1924, the daughter of Charles Winton and Margaret Heffernan Hyatt in Washington, Indiana. She graduated from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri with a major in Food and Nutrition and worked for many years as a consultant dietitian in the Westchester area. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and community volunteer. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Capeci of Mt. Vernon, New York and Dr. Ellen Fithian of Poquoson, Virginia, and four grandchildren, Rachel, Diana, William, and Brian Fithian. Also surviving her are two sisters, Mary Schnabel of Philadelphia, Ann Kenney of Jacksonville, and a brother Paul Hyatt of Englewood Florida. She was preceded in death by her son John W. MAIORANA, RONALD – Anthony L. Watson, CEO & Chair, the Board of Directors and staff of Emblem Health, the parent company of HIP Health Insurance Plan of New York and GHI, mourn the passing of Ronald Maiorana, a retired senior vice president of public affairs and a consultant to EmblemHealth at the time of his death.  A former reporter for the New York Times and later press secretary and advisor to New York Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller, he was 78 and died Thursday after a short illness at his home in East Quogue.
      Mr. Maiorana joined The Times as a copy boy in 1951 as a college freshman in night school and was promoted to reporter in 1955, covering a broad range of assignments in the New York metropolitan area and in Albany.  He left The Times in 1968 to join Gov. Rockefeller as an assistant press secretary. In 1969, the Governor appointed Mr. Maiorana as his press secretary and principal spokesperson.  He accompanied the Governor on government and political trips across the nation and throughout South America.
After Gov. Rockefeller left office, Mr. Maiorana served as New York State Commissioner of Wagering Systems (1974-1975).  He then joined the New York State Special Prosecutor for the Criminal Justice System as a director (1975-1976). 
He later worked with political consultants David Garth and Maureen Connelly on the U.S. Senate campaign of H. John Heinz of Pennsylvania and on all of Rudolph Giuliani’s campaigns for Mayor of New York City.
      He joined the administration of Mayor Giuliani as a senior advisor in 1994 and was appointed Commissioner of the New York City Community Assistance Unit in 1995. He left his city position to join HIP as a managing consultant for public affairs in 1996 and joined the health care company’s executive staff full time in 1998. He retired April 30, 2007.
At HIP, he was a trusted advisor to CEO Anthony L. Watson during a period of profound change in the firm, culminating with the affiliation with GHI to form EmblemHealth earlier this year.
       Mr. Maiorana also was a talented artist, an avocation he pursued for 60 years, opening his first exhibit AbstRactions in July.  Two of his abstracts on canvas are in the Nelson Rockefeller collection.
The EmblemHealth family extends its prayers and best wishes to Mr. Maiorana’s family: his son Ronald Peter Maiorana and wife, Kelly Allman, and daughters Linda Catherine Williams and her husband Trevor Williams, and Janice Virginia Maiorana-Browne, and her husband Christopher Browne, and Mr. Maiorana’s brother Victor and his wife, Rosalie.
      His wife, Phyllis, was killed accidentally when struck by a branch that fell from a tree on September 11, 2002. They had been married 47 years.

Marra, Helen Jonek passed away at Calvery Hospital in The Bronx, NY on Wednesday, July 16 from cancer. She was the widow of the late Edward Joseph Marra and stepmother to his daughters Diane Marra Williams and Marie Marra Fabrizio.  She was a dear grandmother to their children, Joseph, Alex, and Maryrose Fabrizio and Jessica Williams.

She is also survived by her sisters Irene Koch and Virginia Hatch, both of Gowanda, NY.

She was born in Poland in 1924 and came to this country as a teenager. She worked on the family farm in upstate NY and then made her own way in New York City. An avid traveler and one-time artist, she mostly enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.
Burial service will be held on Monday, July 21 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 1 pm.

In later years she was an active parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church of Bronxville, where she was a member of the Arts and Leisure Club and the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. McEwan will be remembered for her kind and compassionate ways and her sense of humor. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a devoted friend to many. MCNAMEE, JOHN F.; of Eastchester died June 14, 2008. He was the son of Patrick and Jennie McNamee, born June 15, 1930. Mr. McNamee was a graduate of Fordham University1953 and later attended NYU Graduate School of Business Administration. During the Korean War, he served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, Cherry Point, NC. He married Margaret M. Sweeney on July 26, 1958 in Holy Cross Church, Brooklyn, NY. His beloved wife died on August 1, 2005. Surviving him are his devoted children, John F. of Omaha, Nebraska, Ann Marie, Jennifer E. and Megan M. and five grandchildren. Sisters Martha Gallati, Mary (Dolly) Murphy, Patricia Mascio, and Brothers Henry, Eugene and Desmond died earlier. Mr. McNamee worked thirty-eight years at The New York Times retiring in 1994. His career began in their School and College Division in 1956 and later advanced through a number of managerial positions including National Circulation Manager and Director of Single Copy Sales. From 1973-1977, Mr. McNamee served as a Trustee on the Eastchester Board of Education where he founded and edited School Talk, a school district publication, designed to keep parents and students informed of the work of the board and what was happening in their schools. MULQUEEN, BRIAN P.; 43, a resident of Scarsdale, NY died on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 after a long and courageous battle against cancer. Beloved husband of Maura (nee Breen). Son of Josephine and the late Patrick Mulqueen. Loving father of Brendan. Brian graduated from Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens and earned a B.A. and a M.B.A. from Iona College.  He was a dedicated golfer and lifelong Mets fan who was a member of the NYAC and Westchester Hills Golf Club. Brian worked within the field of structured finance or asset backed securitization.  He served as an asset backed securities analyst for Standard & Poor's, a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization, as well as a buy-side bond analyst for large multi-national insurance companies Ambac, ACE and MACM. Brian was highly regarded for his industry knowledge and strong business and work ethics. Born on September 9, 1964 to Josephine and the late Patrick Mulqueen, he married Maura Breen on September 12, 1992 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Mount Vernon, NY. NARDONE, JOSEPH; 92, died at his residence on Jan. 9, 2008.  He was surrounded by his family.  He was born on April 13, 1915 in Harlem, NY.  He and his family later moved to Mamaroneck where he attended high school and helped at his parents’ music store.  He developed a love of music and he learned to play guitar, the Mandolin and the eucalalie.  Joseph served as a Tech Sergeant in the communications signal corp. during WWII.  He received an American Service Medal, European African Middle Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal.  He was honorably discharged in 1945.  Joseph attended City College and then went on to receive his Masters Degree in Law at St. John’s University.  He was appointed the Director of The Federal Housing Administration for NY.  He continued his career in law until his retirement.  Joseph is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene.  Treasured father of son, Richard of Scarsdale, daughter, Gina and her husband John Bernstein of Eastchester and daughter, Judy and her husband Robert Rolleri of PA.  His proud grandchildren include John and Jessica Rolleri and Justin, Caitlin and Kevin Bernstein.  He is also survived by 3 great-granddaughters and 1 great grandson.  He will be forever missed for his love, loyalty, compassion and strength.  He was the light of his family.  The family will have visitation at the Fred H. PERNICONE, MARIA V., 83, in Tuckahoe on Dec. 30, 2007.  A long time resident of Hartsdale and sister of the late  Most Reverend Joseph M. Pernicone, former Auxiliary Bishop of New York.  Ms. Pernicone graduated with honors from the Academy  of Mt. St. Ursula in the Bronx, earning a college scholarship; however, because of pressing family obligations arising  after the outbreak of WW II she was unable to attend college.  She enjoyed a long and rewarding career in fashion publishing, employed by Conde Nast Publications and worked as the Executive Assistant to the Publisher of Vogue Magazine until her retirement in 1992.  She is survived by more than 20 nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and numerous devoted friends. Anthony Romeo, longtime Yonkers resident, died on May 15 after a brief illness. He was 85 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, eight of his children, Raymond, Delia, Roger, Kenneth, Mary Jo, Andrew, Jennifer and Edmund, and 22 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Dennis, who died in 1982 at the age of 21. He is also survived by his brother, Eugene, and his sister, Vilma. Anthony was born in Brooklyn in 1922 of immigrant parents and proudly served his country during WWII as a U.S. Marine. He married Mary Mahoney in 1948 and worked for Benjamin Moore Paint Company, where he had a wonderful, 47 year career in sales. Anthony moved his young family to Yonkers in 1954 and they became parishioners of St. Eugene’s Church, where all his children attended school. As well as raising his family, Anthony devoted his time to numerous community and civic organizations. He served as president of the Holy Name Society and president of the 11th Ward Republican Club, he was the founder and first Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 5 of Crestwood, and he served as coach, manager, commissioner and board member of Henry S. Richards Boys Club. Anthony found much joy in singing and served as past president and board member of the Golden Chordsmen Barbershop Chorus. He also proudly sang in the church choir with his wife. Immediately after retirement, Anthony dedicated his time to serving the community by volunteering at Lawrence Hospital in the Emergency Room for twenty years. He was an avid historian and active member of the Little Bighorn Associates. He had a collection of memorabilia regarding General George A. Custer and was always happy to share his passion for history with others, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed. Roussel, Thomas E., died suddenly in Deerfield Beach, Fl. Tom was born October 9, 1955, the youngest son of Martha and Louis Roussel, formerly of the Bronx, NY. A graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School, he attended Oswego College. In 1977, Tom began a distinguished career in the restaurant industry with Victoria Station Restaurant in Yonkers, NY. For many years thereafter, Tom was a manager at a number of Nation-wide restaurants. Most notably, Tom was the former managing partner and proprietor of one of the largest and most successful Outback Steakhouses, located in Old Bridge, NJ where he was a three time recipient of the Outback “Managing Partner of the Year” award and was recognized as “Business Leader of the Year” by the Old Bridge Chamber of Commerce. Tom is survived by his loving family, Louis and Carol Roussel of Cortlandt Manor, Bob and Bernadette Roussel of Staten Island, Marge Roussel of Bronxville and John and Nora Roussel; nine nieces and nephews, Janine, John, Claudine, Megan, Keith, Christine, Kathleen, Michael, Brian and their spouses, Dave, Theresa, Mike, Matt, Kelly, Jesse, Gildardo and Connie; as well as fourteen grand nieces and nephews, Thomas, Anthony, Amanda, Rachel, Jason, Kaitlyn, Oliver, Matthew, Emily, Delia, Caroline, Owen, Aiden and Nicholas and many loving friends. Ryan, Frank J. passed away on Sept. 1, 2008 at the age of 86. He was born in Mt. Vernon on July 20, 1922 to Mary Callan and Frank V. Ryan. Mr. Ryan retired in 1991 as an executive of Ray Rasal and Petro Oil Co. During WWII he served with the Navy in the South Pacific. He was a graduate of Iona Prep School and Iona College. He was a member of the Larchmont Shore Club for 47 years. Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife Gloria whom he married on June 5, 1949. He is also survived by his son Frank J. SAVAGE, MARY ELIZABETH, of Bronxville Manor, died on June 11, 2008.  She was born on June 4, 1920 in Yonkers, NY and moved with her family to Bronxville Manor in 1962.  She was the daughter Mary Tunston Savage and Claude Savage.  A brother, Charles George Savage died in infancy.  She is survived by a sister Eileen Savage.  She was educated in Yonkers, NY and graduated from Gorton High School.  She received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters of Arts Degree in Mathematics from New York University.  She also received a Ph.D. from Forham University in 1956.  Dr. Savage taught Mathematics at Longfellow Jr. High School in Yonkers, NY, Ridgefield Jr. High School in Ridgefield New Jersey and at Eastchester Senior High School.   She was a Department Chairperson and Coordinator of Mathematics in the Eastchester School System.  In 1976, Dr. Savage was appointed principal of the Eastchester Jr. High School.  She also taught math courses at The College of New Rochelle, Good Council College and the University of Hartford.  She enjoyed volunteering at the Convent of Mary The Queen in Yonkers for the past 25 years.  She was also a very active member of the Bronxville Senior Citizens.  Calling hours at the Fred H. SEXTON, GERALD A.; of Scarsdale died peacefully at home on February 1, 2008. Mr. Sexton was born in New York City on August 29, 1918 to Jere A. Sexton and Helen McCabe Sexton. Mr. Sexton was raised in New Rochelle where he attended Iona Grammar School and Iona Prep. In 1940 he graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Philosophy. He was a Captain in the Army during World War II. Mr. Sexton was a member of the American Stock Exchange where he worked as a Specialist with Sexton & Smith for 35 Years. He raised his family in Mt. Kisco, NY, where he coached Little League, Babe Ruth League, and CYO Basketball and in Larchmont, NY where he was active in the parents’ associations of both Iona Prep and the School of the Holy Child, Rye. He was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Scarsdale. He was an avid golfer and tennis player. Mr. Sexton was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Jeanne. He is survived by six children, Donna McGuane of Franklin, MA, Jeanne Nolan (Richard H. Nolan) of Bronxville, NY, Patricia Costello (Dennis R. Costello) of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, Katherine Stundis of East Greenwich, RI, Gerald A. Sexton, Jr. (Mary Pat) of Ridgefield, Conn. and Michael R. Sexton (Janice) of North Attleboro, MA. Mr. Sexton is survived by 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who adored him. He is also survived by one brother William Sexton (Joan) of White Plains, NY, and one sister Mary Sexton of New Rochelle, NY.  Calling hours at the Fred H. Shelli, Robert N. resident of Scarsdale and formerly of Bronxville, died peacefully at home March 8th at age of 87. He attended St. John’s, was Chief Court Reporter, Supreme Court of NY, Kings County, and President of Certified Reporting Co.  for 47 years. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII as reporter for Courts Martial and Board of Investigation conferences. He is survived by his wife, Lois Shelli, children Robert L., Anne Shelli Parker, Barbara Shelli Sullivan, Vincent, Marie and seven grandchildren. SPENICK, DRAUNTA LOU died after a 4 year battle with cancer on February 17, 2008, at her home in Eastchester.  She was 67 years old. Draunta was born on April 6th 1940, in Charleston, West Virginia to Elmer and Mary Jane Holstein.  She was the youngest of 7 children.  She graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1958.  She worked for AT&T in Charleston and attended Charleston Commercial College. In January 1960 she married Bob Spenik and moved to New York. She worked 8 years for Esso Standard Oil Company in Westchester before having her first child.  She remained home for 14 years to raise two children. Once her children were older Draunta re-entered the work force and contributed to our local community throughout her career.  She held positions at the Tuckahoe library for 2 years, before going to the town of Eastchester to work for the comptroller for 11 years.  After retirement, she began one of her most loved positions, assistant at the Eastchester Fire Department. Draunta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.  She was survived by her devoted husband of 48 years Bob, son Robert and his wife Catrine, daughter Christina and her husband John, 3 grandchildren Kristoffer and Alexander Spenik and Owen Butler.  She is also survived by one sister Bess Bare. WARD, ANN CURTIN, MD; of Riverdale, N.Y. on November 23, 2007. Beloved wife of Joseph Noel Ward M.D. and mother of Fiona and Gregory Clapp, J. Desmond and Julie Ward and the late Joseph Francis Ward.  Grandmother of Noel, Evangeline and Charlotte Clapp and Lily and Catherine Ward.  Daughter of the late Sean and Ann (nee McKenna) MacCurtain.  Sister of Margaret MacCurtain, Eilish Pearce and the late Michael MacCurtain and Joan McCarthy.  Known as Nancy, she was a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice in New York.  Nancy earned her medical doctor degree (M.B.B.Ch.) from University College Dublin, Ireland.  After residency in psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland and Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, Nancy was appointed to the faculty as instructor in psychiatry at Emory University Medical School.  It was at this time she married Dr. Joseph Ward.  Nancy also graduated from New York Medical College, Valhalla, with a graduate degree in psychoanalysis.  She was a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and Fellow of The American Academy of Psychoanalysis.  In addition to her dedication to her profession, Nancy was an accomplished athlete in swimming and women’s hurling, and while at university she won a ‘blue blazer’ for medals in track and field. Active in several organizations in her community, she was a committed supporter of Riverdale Country School.  Nancy was widely known for her unsurpassed compassion and love for those she touched.  She will be sorely missed.
